Forum Thread: Buying a Cello

I am wanting to take up cello but I am a student and I dont have a lot of extra cash. Is there anywhere I can get a good starter Cello without spending a lot of money

Cheap cellos usually sound like toys, so if you are just beginning and aren't even sure if you'd continue with your lessons, renting is probably your best option. A decent cello will run you at least a grand, whereas renting could be as little as 40/50 bucks a month. Then you can save for your own cello during lessons—and if you decide to stop playing—use the money for something else.
